Anatomy of the Equine Hoof

$10.00

This course aims to give learners an understanding of the structure of the hoof to help identifying signs of laminitis, navicular disease or other problems in your horse.

Description

You’ll never look at your horse’s hoof in the same way, and you’ll  understand why it’s important to look after your horse’s feet!

Have you heard the expression, “No foot, no horse.”?

Horses are fragile! Their slender legs and small hooves must bear a massive weight!

This course explains everything you need to know about the anatomy of the equine hoof.

The hoof is an important structure with a lot of different parts that work together as a whole. If one part fails, the whole hoof can fail, giving rise to issues of lameness. An understanding of the structure of the hoof is important to identifying signs of laminitis, navicular disease or other problems in your horse.

At the end of this course, presented by hoof expert, Lindsey Field, you should be able to:

  • Identify the parts of the hoof – internal and external.
  • Discuss the function of each part of the horse’s hoof.
  • Explain possible causes of navicular disease/navicular syndrome.

If you score over 70% in the quiz at the end, you can download a free certificate and an electronic badge to share on your linkedin and social media profiles to show you have passed this course.
